some random day a few months ago, i decided that jovie & lennox were ready for labyrinth. it was a hit, and i have been so thankful that now we can enjoy it together. jovie (especially) enjoys it, and since she shares my love for watching the same things over and over again… i know i can look forward to watching it again soon.
i really do not have much to say about labyrinth… except to say that there’s so much to celebrate about it. it’s an amazing goblin-y muppet fest all swirling around david bowie’s bizarre yet alluring goblin king. now that we are done with babies, i can say that jareth was among the boy baby names we gravitated toward.
jovie’s favorite character is the goblin king, lennox’s favorite is the flying goblin in the dance magic scene, my favorite character is # 1 below, and i’ll have to ask jason about his.
5 terrific things about labyrinth.
- “them’s my rightful property!” with hoggle we know it’s possible to be both cowardly and honorable, it’s how most of us are. we love that he’s spraying fairy-icide when sara asks him for help.
2. this dandy tune. good luck not spending the next hour dancing around to it.
3. this worm. before i was lucky enough to have seen this movie, someone who was always far cooler than me used to quote this worm all the time… just a nice random bit of cute, weirdness.
4. oubliette. it’s a great word… rare that you’ll get a chance to use it, but it’ll feel so wonderful when you do.
5. the nipper sticks. the are terrible & ludo is far too gentle to deserve their wrath… but there is something delightful about them. especially when one of their wielders calls ludo a big hippie.
